Ashley Parker Angel and the Case of the Pillar Candle
If you've been watching MTV's new reality show, There and Back about former boy-band member Ashley Parker Angel's struggle to reclaim musical success. In the past few episodes, Ashley has had to ask his mother in law, his record label and even his neighbors for money to pay the rent.
What the so-called reality show is not exposing is the real reason why Ashley's in the hole. In last night's episode, every room in Ashley's house-even the backyard- was decorated in pillar candles. That's $15 a pop at pottery barn. I suggest Ashley cuts back on his candle habit before it burns him even more

In one of the 1st espoides, he says he doesnt want a wierd name for his child because he grew up with the name Ashley and was made fun of...so what does he do ...names his kid Lyric...ok that makes sense...

He was so broke he had to hire movers to move his stuff to the new house....he just bought - I feel so sorry for him. (I'm in a small cramped apartment, rented a u-haul and bribed my friends with beer) Give me a break -- this show is about as real as him stopping time to talk to the viewer. One episode was enough for me.

I want to address the erudite observations of one MAX, contributor to this message board.
"Everyone can screw themselves" - wow, Max comes out swinging. He must be upset. Where is this pro-Ashley sentiment coming from?

Seeing as how Ashley sold a $500 keyboard for $40 at his garage sale, this squirrel may be headed the wrong direction. Maybe he should watch less O-Town vhs tapes and more Mad Money on CNBC.

I am sorry that Ashley knocked up his girlfriend and must suffer in the squalor of his three bedroom manse, but he should spend less time looking for help and more time helping himself. Oh and btw, the man is a father now, so no more whining and burying your head in a goosedown pillow when things don't go your way.

yeah my husband and I watch that show. He was the one who noticed that they were riding around in a benz. The way I feel about it is celebrities standards of being poor are totally different from the average working class person. I can only imagine how much mtv is paying him for this show. Not only that...did you check out the ring he proposed with?! Yeah thats it!

I totally agree. The rich and famous have completley diff/ standards when it comes to money especially if they don't have any.Once they see thta money is tight that doesn't mean thet are gonna get rid of what they earned when they did have money. Do what every american family does; work hard but you shouldn'e have to trade in your prized possessionsfor another shot of fame. To me ashley is famous again. He has a beautiful fiance, and child. What more can he ask for? I think his career will skyrocket after time and hard work.

I can relate to the man, he's a young kid who got lucky and the whole boy band thing flipped on him like a dot com, but whose to say that he didn't buy that benz when he had the cash, or he bought that ring when he had it, people in this world always like to take shots at the more fortunate in this world, because they may be less fortunate. Its not fair, but thats how the world works, you can't be successful without someone who is less successful bitching about you behind your back. Thats just how I feel, I say Go on Ashley get your money man, and everyone that doubts you can continue to do so, cos they'll never be in your shoes.

Please give him a break. He is just 21 years old. Think about it. How would you be acting if you were in his shoes and has had the life that he has had? I can understand that he may not make the right decisions all the time, and that he may not act as mature as a father should. I have a son that is 20 and he acts like a 20 year old should. He just has to learn how to be a 20 year old father. Do you have children? Have you always made the right decision? As a mother of four I will be the first to say that I have made my share. All new parents will make mistakes and all we can hope from is that they learn from them. I have watched Ashley’s show and it has made better understand the trials that new parents go through and the show has made me remember that I had a hard time as a parent for the first time. We are all only given what we can handle. That is something that my new daughter-in-law reminded me of yesterday.
