Kevin Covais: Me Talk Pretty One Day
Here's what Grey's Anatomy writer Krista Vernoff had to say on the show's blog about American Idol contestant Kevin Covais:
WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT KEVIN COVAIS’ SPEECH IMPEDIMENT? Seriously, how are you supposed to have a professional singing career when you sound like this: “You should have told me yourthelf, that you loved thomeone elth, insthead I heard it through the grapevine…”??? He is sweet kid – even a talented singer, but seriously!
Now I see why all the patients on Grey's Anatomy have ridiculous diseases: The writers think that disabilities are something to make fun of. Nice job, Krista!

I don't think it's making fun of someone to point out the obvious! I love Kevin and still think it's ridiculous that his parents have not had his speech impediment corrected already!

You are a very mean person to say that about Kevin. I am a classmate and friend of his. He has the entire school,Island Trees High School, to back him up. We have all been voting for him and we shall keep on voting for him. If you knew him you wouldn't be so cruel. The kid has gone through some tough shit. He's diabetic and he has been a prodigy since elementary school, so back off!

I am 37 and absolutely adore Kevin. Don't laugh, but I actually cried after he performed Starry Starry Night. I was so upset with what Simon had to say about him that I got on the phone and voted repeatedly, probably at LEAST 300 times over the course of the next hour and a half, and I feel like my votes made a difference. Hang in there, Kev! This girl in Mesquite, Texas loves you!

KEVIN COVAIS has got to go. Enough of this, he's a cute kid and nice guy business. This is AMERICAN IDOL it's a Singing/Talent contest not a popularity contest at High School. I seriously don't think that this guy deserves to be in the Top 10. The fact that he could make it in the Top 10 is insulting to the other contestants who are clearly in another league of talent than Kevin. Good job Kevin, but your 15 minutes are up, TIME TO GO HOME.................

Maybe they're not only looking at his voice. Obviously he has an enormous amount of talent, but he's also the most likeable guy there and the most geniune of everybody, and for somebody who has got to go he's sure getting a lot of press compared to some of the others.

Please dont be cruel to others. Kevin getting up there tonight saved my life in mind. In my heart I believe other people's minds too.
God has his reason Kevin is still on like me I am one reason:

Ok Kevin is in NO way as talented as the rest of the performers on American Idol. Yeah he is a very nice kid and all that but this is a competition! He really needs to go home. Maybe in a few years his voice will have matured more and he will be a better singer. I wish him well but it is a tragedy he is still on this show. He simply doesn't posess the talent the others do.

Kevin's head is just getting bigger. On one article he talked about himself being a sex symbol (just because Paula said so). He doesn't have a unique talent whatsoever. Please. He has to go.

Kevin just gets more and more annoying as the episodes go on. He was never a great singer, he looks like a dork, he makes funny faces when he sings, and now he walks around thinking he's a sex symbol. I can't wait until he gets voted off so I can see him wake up out of his dreamworld. I also hope he cries like the wimp he is. He's a joke.

My wife was going to leave me, so I played Kevin's version of "Starry Starry Night" for her and now we are going to have 3 children.
But I have even more good news: I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico!

OK, the kid has a speech impediment, but he does have a good voice. I think he should have been gone last night, but apparently that's not what America thought. And the voters rule. So if you think Kevin sucks, apparently he doesn't suck as much as you think.

Kevin is a nice kid..Period... Not even cute as far as I'm concerned.However.. this is a contest, and it is starting to look stupid to keep this kid on the show. This is not America voting, these are some individuals that are in love with him that sit and vote over and over to keep the kid in. Anyone can do that. That does not mean that he is good just because he is still there. I almost fell off my chair when Guideon was dismisses instead of Kevin. He at least was able to sing. It is almost like cheating to keep this kid on. Enough is enough....

At first I liked him; but now, I think he's annoying. The only reason he has mass appeal right now, is for the same reason people like the Gerber Baby; but will quickly tire of him and his voice on a C.D.

Kevin is TERRIBLE. The judges are always talking about the "IT" factor and the "WOW" factor. He has neither! When he is performing I mute the TV and look away. How in the world did he ever make it on the show anyway???

Cute or not, which he is not, the kid has GOT to go! I have not paid much attention to Idol until this season and I, along with many other first-timers, are appalled the way the show decides to keep or kick contestants off - based on the american public vote. There have been some really talented singers voted off and ole' Kev is still there??? He is NOT a talented singer. He is a wedding/church choir singer at best. Stop this kid's head from swelling by making him think he has talent. Those people who continue to vote for him should be ashamed. Let this poor kid go back home!!!

Kevin has a voice on him, charisma, and total likability IMO. His voice is bound to improve with age, but even now he can definately sing and he brings such 'life' and pizazz to the show. I didn't care at first, but he has grown on me over the weeks. I'd like to see Mandisa win this... but Kevin should stay on for awhile. And yes he is adorable.

If he has a speech impediment then I've never heard it. And Idol is live, so it's not really noticeable. you must be some kind of mean spirited moron to bash someone like Kevin Covais. I mean come on, he's in the top of Idol and he's 16, he has diabetes! And the whole time on Idol you'd never know unless you went to their site. Honestly, whoever the bashers are should be ashamed of themselves!

Everyone keeps bringing up the fact that the kid is diabetic. So what, my husband has been a diabetic since he was ten. But guess what, he can't sing either.....

Kevin Covais, Dear Lord, Please get him in TOP 10
I am a nervous wreck.
Kevin has been such an inspiration to me, and he really just touches my heart. Everything about him, and his journey on this season's idol has really gotten to me. I want to go see him in the tour, and buy his cd.
I am NOT prepared to say goodbye to him, I have been consumed by this little guy since I first heard him sing, and every day there-after.
TV hasnt presented me with anyone worthy of tuggin at my heart since Micheal Landon, until Kevin.
He really gives you hope, is such a fighter.
And I am so hurt and angry when I look on these boards and see what evil people have inside them to ever say cruel things about a 16 yr old sweetheart with family and friends reading these boards.
It is a shame that in this world that their are actually people so jealous that they will cut an innocent lamb to bone it's merciless.

Kevin is TERRIBLE! I honestly can't believe he's made it this far. I've watched every season on American Idol & I think he is the worst the top 12 has ever had. I can't wait to see him go! My vote for the winner is on Chris - he's got talet! So does Mandisa & Katherine. That's 3 contestants who actually deserve to be there. If you think Kevin is on the same level as these 3 then you need you're head examined.

This kid has the old lady vote. That is probably the only reason this ho hum talent is still on the show. He is not even in the same league of talent as the other contestants.
