Say It Isn't Not So!
We're not stupid. We know that reality TV distorts reality to tell good stories. Please, I think VH1 alone has dedicated at least three days worth of Awesomely Bad programming to the matter. We get it, and we tolerate it. However. Today. Today I hit my breaking point.
I, like many people out there, was a huge fan of Laguna Beach. The first season bumped The Real World off the top of my Must Watch Reality TV list, and not just because the girls were gorgeous. Okay, fine, mostly because the girls were gorgeous, but not just because of it.
I was sucked into the Kristin-Stephen-LC love triangle. A love triangle that apparently never... sorry. A love triangle that apparently never... hold on, I need to collect myself. Okay. Okay. I can do this. A love triangle that apparently never existed. From Time Magazine:
The problem, says a story editor who asked not to be named, was that the triangle didn't exist. LC and Stephen, he says, were platonic friends, so the producers played Cupid through montage. LC "would say things about [Stephen] as a friend," says the editor. "[LC] said, 'I just love this guy.' All you have to do is cut to a shot of the girl, and suddenly she's jealous and grimacing."
I give up. I don't know what to believe anymore, but I do know this: I will never believe another reality show romance for as long as I live. It's over. I'm jaded. From now on I'm only going to believe in real love, like the love between two celebrities. That's what it's all about.
Tom and Katie. You're all I have now. Please. Show me the way.
Special thanks to the Tabloid Whore, for blowing the whistle on this one.

well what about the night in rosarita in season 2, bob? That do not disturb (or spanish equivalent) sign didn't seem too platonic. Keep hope alive. God, why do i know this?!
